Happy Spring! As is usual for Spring in Rochester, it seems we've had multiple seasons show up, just within the past week. No wonder we are so flexible. ;)
I'm back with some more movement optimism for April! The above quotation is a little gem from a short video called “Perfect Posture Doesn’t Exist.” It’s a wonderful reminder that we are dynamic ecosystems, influenced by too many variables to disaggregate. Past experience is just one of those variables. What’s behind us on the path isn’t always behind us; we often unconsciously carry it with us. When we use language that creates fear (e.g. in yoga classes, sometimes it's fear of certain movements), or assumes there is one correct posture for everyone, it can end up undermining the goal of building people up and helping them learn to trust they can move well in the world. But...more on that later...

Here's an excellent interview I listened to recently. For any of you with osteoarthritis (aka "wrinkles on the inside"), it may offer you some new insights into the condition, and other similar conditions. They say it takes about 17 years for new research to trickle down to the general public, and that's too long a time for us all to wait!
